Dan Aykroyd

Daniel Edward Aykroyd was born in Ottawa and initially studied psychology, criminal sociology, and political science at Carleton University, where he began his comedy career. He co-wrote sketches for a private cable company, which sparked his interest in acting. At age 20, he joined The Second City comedy troupe in Chicago and Toronto, beginning his professional career.

In 1975, Aykroyd became a founding member of the "Not Ready For Prime Time Players" on "Saturday Night Live." He co-created iconic sketches such as "The Blues Brothers" with John Belushi and "Two Wild and Crazy Guys" with Steve Martin. The popularity of "The Blues Brothers" led to a feature film in 1980, for which Aykroyd wrote and produced the soundtrack, standing out during the disco and punk music eras.

Aykroyd's acting versatility is evident in roles such as Dr. Ray Stantz in "Ghostbusters," the son of Jessica Tandy's character in "Driving Miss Daisy," a single father in "My Girl," and an assassin in "Grosse Pointe Blank," demonstrating his range in both comedy and drama.
