Biography
Wally Pfister is an American cinematographer and film director best known for his work with Christopher Nolan. He also collaborated with director F. Gary Gray on *The Italian Job* (2003) and with Bennett Miller on *Moneyball* (2011). Pfister made his directorial debut with *Transcendence* (2014), starring Johnny Depp. His first collaboration with Nolan was on the neo-noir thriller *Memento* (2000). The success of that project led to Pfister becoming Nolan's director of photography for his subsequent films: *Insomnia* (2002), *Batman Begins* (2005), *The Prestige* (2006), *The Dark Knight* (2008), which he partially shot with IMAX cameras, and *Inception* (2010), shot partially in 5-perf 65 mm. Pfister is the only cinematographer to have worked with Nolan on all films from *Memento* to *The Dark Knight Rises*. He won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for *Inception*.
