Biography

Thor Freudenthal (born c. 1972/1973) is a German director and screenwriter. He was born and raised in Berlin, Germany, and attended the Berlin Academy of Arts. Later, he moved to Southern California as an exchange student at CalArts. He began his career as an animation director on short films such as *Mind the Gap*, *Monkey Business*, and *The Tenor*. He also contributed conceptual and visual artwork at Sony Pictures Imageworks on films including *Stuart Little*, *The ChubbChubbs!*, and *Stuart Little 2*. He later served as Second Unit Director on Disney's *The Haunted Mansion*. In 2005, he directed the short film *Motel*, which marked his first live-action project. He went on to direct *Hotel for Dogs* in 2009 for DreamWorks Pictures. He also directed the live-action/animated feature film *Diary of a Wimpy Kid*, based on the book by Jeff Kinney.
