Death Stranding Movie Script Is Almost Completed, Director Says

The Death Stranding movie, produced by A24 and directed by Michael Sarnoski, is nearing completion with the script reportedly 'almost done.' Sarnoski, who is also writing the script, shared that Hideo Kojima, the movie's producer, has reviewed drafts and provided feedback, though specific changes remain undisclosed. Sarnoski emphasized that Kojima has allowed him creative freedom to develop new characters while staying true to the game's themes and spirit. The director also noted Kojima's deep knowledge of cinema, citing a reference to the 1985 film Come and See that Kojima recognized. The movie is still in early development, with no cast or release date announced yet. Norman Reedus, who plays Sam in the games, has expressed openness to returning for the film. Separately, an animated Death Stranding movie is also in development as part of the broader franchise.
