Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith is an American filmmaker and comic book writer, best known for his 1994 film *Clerks*, a low-budget comedy that he wrote, directed, co-produced, co-edited, and starred in as the character Silent Bob. The film launched his career and introduced the stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob, who appear in several of his subsequent works. Smith's films often feature crossover elements and are set in New Jersey, forming a shared universe known as the "View Askewniverse," named after his production company, View Askew Productions, which he co-founded with Scott Mosier. Notable films in this universe include *Mallrats* (1995), *Chasing Amy* (1997), *Dogma* (1999), *Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back* (2001), *Clerks II* (2006), *Jay and Silent Bob Reboot* (2019), and *Clerks III* (2022).
