Biography
Jenifer Lewis is an American actress and singer known for her work in film, television, and theater. She began her career on Broadway and as a backup singer for Bette Midler before transitioning to acting in films. Lewis gained recognition for her role in *Sister Act* (1992) and has since appeared in a variety of films, often portraying maternal figures. Notable roles include her performances in *What's Love Got to Do With It* (1993), *Poetic Justice* (1993), *The Preacher's Wife* (1996), and *The Brothers* (2001). She has also appeared in comedies such as *The Cookout* (2004), *Think Like a Man* (2012), and *The Wedding Ringer* (2015). Lewis has expanded her career to include television, notably starring in the miniseries *The Temptations* (1998).
