Biography

Harrison Ford, born on July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, comes from a family with a background in acting, radio, and modeling. He attended public high school in Park Ridge, Illinois, where he was a member of the school radio station WMTH and served as its lead voice for sports reporting. Ford did not seriously consider acting until his junior year at Ripon College, when he took his first acting class. In 1964, he moved to California in pursuit of a voice-over job. Though he did not secure that role, he signed with Columbia Pictures, earning $150 weekly for small parts in films.

During the 1960s, Ford appeared in TV shows such as *Gunsmoke*, *Ironside*, *Kung Fu*, and *American Style*. His first credited film role came in 1967 with *A Time for Killing*. Frustrated by the limited roles available, Ford took a break from acting to work as a self-employed carpenter. This period proved fortuitous when he was hired by film producer George Lucas, marking a pivotal moment in his career and leading to his casting as Han Solo in *Star Wars* and Indiana Jones in *Raiders of the Lost Ark*.

Since his iconic roles in the original *Star Wars* trilogy and *Raiders of the Lost Ark*, Ford has appeared in over 40 films. Some critics have noted a decline in the quality of his later work, resulting in commercially underperforming films. Ford has been known for keeping his personal life private, particularly regarding his children and marriages. He has five children, including one recent adoption with his third and current wife, Calista Flockhart. Outside of acting, Ford is interested in environmental conservation, aviation, and archaeology.
