    Ellen Lee DeGeneres is an American comedian, actress, television host, writer, and producer known for her work in stand-up comedy and television. She gained national recognition after appearing on *The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson* in 1986. DeGeneres starred in the sitcom *Ellen* from 1994 to 1998 and later in *The Ellen Show* from 2001 to 2002. She is best known for hosting *The Ellen DeGeneres Show*, a syndicated talk show that aired from 2003 to 2022 and earned her 33 Daytime Emmy Awards.
