Biography
Donna Murphy (born March 7, 1959) is an American actress and singer who has worked in stage, film, and television. She has won two Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for her performances as Fosca in *Passion* and as Anna Leonowens in *The King and I*. Murphy received three additional Tony Award nominations for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayals of Ruth Sherwood in *Wonderful Town*, Lotte Lenya in *Lovemusik*, and Raisel/Bubbie in *The People in the Picture*. She is known for her role as Mother Gothel in the animated Disney film *Tangled* (2010), as Anij, the love interest of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, in *Star Trek: Insurrection* (1998), and for her many stage roles in musical theatre.
