Denis Akiyama

Denis Van Akiyama (May 28, 1952 – June 28, 2018) was a Japanese–Canadian actor and voice actor, known for voicing Iceman/Bobby Drake, Silver Samurai/Kenuichio Harada, and Sunfire in the X-Men franchise, as well as Malachite in the original English version of Sailor Moon. He also voiced the character Shinji in *Johnny Mnemonic*.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Akiyama frequently appeared as a guest star on *Katts and Dog*. In 2015, he had a role in the film *Pixels*. In addition to his acting career, he was a skilled musician and played trumpet with The Pukka Orchestra.

Akiyama died on June 28, 2018, from a "very rare and aggressive cancer." He was married to Danielle Akiyama, and the couple had two children, Kintaro and Miya.
