David Dawson

David Robert Dawson (born 7 September 1982) is an English actor who has appeared in a range of television productions. His TV roles include appearances in *The Road to Coronation Street* (2010), series 2 of *Luther* (2011), *Ripper Street* (2012–2016), *The Secret Agent* (2016), *The Last Kingdom* (2015–2018), where he played King Alfred, and *Year of the Rabbit* (2019), in which he portrayed Joseph Merrick ("The Elephant Man").

In theatre, Dawson was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance as Smike in the 2007 production of *The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby*. He has also appeared in notable stage productions such as *Comedians* in 2009, *Posh* in 2010, and *Luise Miller* in 2011.
