Teacher Alex Campbell Leads True‑Crime Class

Prime Video's docuseries Murder 101 follows Elizabethton High School sociology teacher Alex Campbell as he guides his students in investigating the unsolved Redhead Murders, a series of killings from 1978 to 1992. The show highlights their interview with survivor Linda Schacke and the DNA confirmation that Jerry Lee Johns was responsible for one victim, despite his death in prison. Campbell, who has taught sociology for 18 years, remains on staff at the Tennessee high school. He is married to Brittney, with whom he shares two sons; she appears in the series' opening and closing episodes. Outside of teaching, Campbell enjoys weightlifting, reenacting, loom weaving, and cabin building. Both he and his wife recovered from severe COVID‑19 complications that required hospitalization.
