X-Men Absent in Insomniac's Wolverine

During Sony's State of Play showcase, Marvel's Wolverine revealed new gameplay and characters from the X-Men universe. Creative director Marcus Smith confirmed that the X-Men themselves are not part of this version of Wolverine's world. Instead, the game features Team X, a group of mercenary mutants who protect other mutants in danger. In this universe, most mutants remain in hiding due to their vulnerability, which explains why Professor Xavier's school for gifted young mutants is not present. The game's trailer shows Wolverine, or Logan, hunting down kidnapped mutants and encountering Jean Grey, who may also be part of Team X. Mystique is seen fighting Reavers, suggesting she might be a member of the team. Other characters like Omega Red and Sabretooth appear as villains, while Lady Deathstrike, a known associate of Team X, may be introduced later in the game. The game will launch exclusively on PS5 on September 15.
